Dear God. This last book was like a fricken soap opera. I mean honestly, who didn’t see that “twist” coming. I guess her parentage in book 2. But besides that, there were just so many unforgivable mistakes.

First, let’s talk about a huge plot hole. John didn’t know his wife was alive, yet somehow at the end of the book her guards betrayed her? And all of a sudden John knew she was alive. Yeah, let’s just brush over everything else that happened and the surprise at seeing his wife alive after breaking into Cam’s mind.

Lewis can’t remember anything but they can share memories and she doesn’t share them so he can at least have some of his life back? But his heart remembered her. Bleh.

The end was so anticlimactic. Everyone knew everything that was going to happen, but just decided it wasn’t a good idea to let key players in on the plan? I mean com on!

And for the final nail in the coffin:
“I missed you,” he whispered, his voice catching.
“I know.”

WHO RESPONDS LIKE THAT???

There is one more book, but from what I hear it changes POV and is about Nora and Maddox. I’m gonna call it good on this series. I should have stopped at 2, but curiosity got the best of me.

I have to say I was incredibly disappointed in the conclusion to these books. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and felt that, while the second book wasn't quite as good as the first, this was still a series I was excited about ..... until I read the third book that is.

As other reviewers mentioned, this book read like a bad soap opera, using every trite plot device there is. I also felt that a lot of things were very forced. I was not onboard with the Cameron/Lewis relationship because I felt there was very little substance. Mostly, they just seemed to make out. At least in the first book I could see why Cameron liked Lewis, but here I just wasn't buying it.

All of the family drama was WAY too over the top. The characters introduced in the second book seemed more interesting then they ended up being. I thought Nora was such an awesome character in the second book. While I felt it was absolutely predictable that they two ended up being sisters, I didn't mind since Nora seemed like such a great addition. However in this book she changed from an independent, strong, ass-kicking character to become jealous, petty and honestly, pretty useless. Sulking that Cameron was getting all the attention felt totally out of character and overall she felt inconsistent to me. Additionally, neither of the parents felt very two dimensional. I was hoping for an explanation of their father's actions, maybe giving him a backstory that actually made sense. Nope. And don't get me started on the whole Aaron scenario. Especially since Cameron kept going on about how he tortured her. Yeah, he erased her memories in a really painful experience. It was obviously a huge invasion of her rights but to use the word torture felt like overkill to me. Overall the author seemed seriously obsessed with mind readers getting tortured.

The main thing that got under my skin was how frequently the author beat you over the head with the information that Cameron was SPECIAL. It had to be at least once a chapter where I'd read a sentence like "It was all about me - they were all talking about me. Because I was special." or "I looked at Nora and could see how jealous she was that I was special and she wasn't and now I was getting all this attention." Like, I GET IT. It was a total turn off especially when it was followed by her sulking that "I didn't even want to be special I just wanted to leave them all behind." She was a VERY unlikable character by the end and I really couldn't care less what happened to her. Plus, the whole "finding herself at the soup kitchen" just felt so contrived. As I mentioned in the title, the whole thing read like a bad fanfiction where Cameron was the "Mary Sue" at the center of it.

This whole last book felt rushed and not thought out. Really wish the author had spent more time on it or (like another reviewer mentioned) had an editor because this last book just marred the series for me. I'm not sure if I'll recommend this to anyone because while I enjoyed the first book I would never suggest anyone reading this one.

Basically the story goes as such, I'm just a normal girl but I can read minds, my granda keeps us secret as if we'll die if someone finds out. Woah this guy can read minds too, we're gonna run away together. I love him. My dad is dead, no he's not? My dad is a bad guy. But so is the guy I'm with. Oh no my memories he took them! How will I tell people of the bad stuff he did. Living with gma again, hey some guy said I should go with him, my dads alive. Plot twist! Gma says to go so I do. Some crazy girl is trying to kill me! No wait kidnap me? I like this new guy. My dad is a bad guy. Makes me a prisoner. I escape! Because that girl is my sister?! Plot twist! The guy I was with lost his memories too, gotta find him. I love him. No dad shot my boyfriend. I escape and find, my mom!? Plot twist! My mom is working as a mind reader and wasn't dead all along! I'm something special. so is mom. Moms boyfriend is actually the guy who took my memories?! Plot twist! Well I hate him. Me and mom, and the guy I hate are something special?! Dad comes to make me his prisoner again, turns out, he's not even my dad, the guy I hate is! Plot twist! He knew all alone too. Mom and dad go flying off a boat and everyone finally leaves me alone and lets me have a normal life, but I run away for 6 months to feed homeless people to find myself, I go home and everything is okay. The end.

Basically.

These books use sudden plot changes far to much to unfold the story. Far too often too. You don't have time or a deep enough story to suddenly have your view shifted again and again. The characters lack depth. The first book was free, I did however pay for all 3 because it was good enough to wonder how it'll end. It took me months to read when usually I finish books in weeks. I wouldn't recommend this. But if you have nothing else to read, or arent picky at all when it comes to book, go ahead. You're better off reading twilight because at least it's captivating and well written, something this is not. I would definitely say the 2 are similar with this being the much worse less thought out version.
